It’s been a warm and wet winter in the Valley and that means pollen counts are coming earlier than usual, bringing allergy season sooner! Not like you needed me to tell you that – everyone is coughing, sneezing, and rubbing their eyes and it doesn’t appear that it’s going to end any time soon!

Here are some quick tips to help alleviate your suffering:

  1. Saline, Saline, Saline – I can’t say this enough! Use saline spray to help clear out the congestion in your nasal passages. You will feel like a new person.
  2. Keep the doors and windows closed – I know this is a hard one with the beautiful weather we are having but it will keep the dust and pollen from invading your house and car. Also invest in good, high-efficiency air filters for your A/C and change them often.
  3. Exercise inside if possible – if you must get your run or hike in do it first thing in the morning or in the evening when pollen counts are at their lowest levels.
  4. Medicate if necessary – there are tons of great over-the-counter allergy medications available now. If these don’t cut it then see your doctor.
